I can hardly believe it, but this is post number 100 on my blog!
I feel like I’ve come a long way as a photographer since I first started this blog a little over a year ago. I really enjoy sharing my favorite pictures from some of my sessions here. Thank you to all my loyal readers out there, and thank you to my awesome clients for allowing me to share portraits of your beautiful babies, children and families. It goes without saying that I would not be where I am today without you , and for that I am so grateful.
Anyway, to get to the good part: In honor of this big milestone, I am giving away a $100 Rina Schiffman Photography gift certificate to one lucky reader! The gift certificate can be used however you’d like- either towards the session fee, or towards your print purchase at my studio. It will never expire, so you can hold on to it and use it whenever you’d like!
How to enter:
To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is answer the following question in the comment section of this post :
“What type of portrait is your favorite?”
Do you like the soulful, serious shots? Are the portraits with genuine smiles and giggles the ones you love? Do you love the peaceful, sleeping newborn shots best? Or the sweet innocence of a three year old boy right before his upsherin?
Just write a few words about which portraits are the ones that tug at your heart and you’re automatically entered to win. No entries after Midnight on Thursday, September 2nd. One entry per person please. (No using multiple email addresses)
One reader will be randomly chosen and the winner will be announced on Friday. Good Luck!
I love the candid shots of my son, where he’s looking at something in concentration or laughing at something that only he finds amusing. While posed pictures are great at capturing a child at a particular time, they sometimes seem forced (especially if the child won’t sit still). I get the best pictures of my son when I am just constantly clicking the shutter button rapidly. Of the 50 pictures I’ll take in the span of a few minutes, there will always be a few, sometimes only one, that captures my son and his personality perfectly.

I love portraits capture the essence and persona the subject, like a child’s wonder of his or her surroundings or the tranquility of a newborn baby. I also like portraits that capture moments.

I feel those tranquil newborn pics portray a real miracle. They’re so tiny yet so full of life.

The newborn pics are definitely stunning, but my favorite pictures are the ones where a child’s true personality is captured. Especially the gorgeous ones you got of my Rachelli!

my favorite are the ones close up in black and white. you have a way of capturing a childs expression and making it seem like i can see straight thru the childs eyes and really see them for what they are.

I luv getting random shots of my daughter, especially when shes not posing for the camera. I also luv getting shots of two people intracting, and the best results are when they dont realize they are being photographed!

There’s nothing like the freshness of a newborn captured on camera. There’s nothing that makes you smile more than a shot of a toddler in action- The shy smirk, the mischievous giggle, the serious mournful expressions….

There are 2 things that really get me going:
1) Old fashioned black and white shots, i.e. little boys wearing newsboy hats, knickers, with decor that could easily pass for 1929! It’s adorable!
2) I’m a sucker for “matchy matchy” family/sibling pictures. My baby is 4 months old and I have yet to take her for professional pictures (I hopefully will soon!) but I can’t wait to take matching family pictures. Call me corny, but sometimes I’ll throw on a coordinated-color shirt to match what my baby daughter is wearing– just for fun 🙂

I love antique styled photos, with sepia or black/white coloring. It gives the picture a sense of sophistication while at the same time focuses on the innocence of the subject.

Any photo with children in it. Children are so honest and pure about their feelings. (Unlike adults they don’t hide behind any masks.) Your images really reflect that and are wonderful. Happy 100! I would LOVE to be the winner 🙂

I love my pictures you took of my kids:) but I truly love the pictures of siblings together. Like two sisters or two brothers, you capture that natural bond and their true personalities shine through your lens in the most perfect way!

I’m almost embarrassed to say this, but my favorite pictures are those rare snaps of a little quivering lip… when I took my son for his 3-month-old shots, I just had to order the one the photographer captured before he really got comfortable with her. His eyebrows are knit and the pouting lip is just too precious.

My favorite pictures of my little guy are the action shots. Like when he is in the middle of yammering or concentrating intensely on a book/toy. I’m also obsessed with shots where you can see his little toes peeking out and his hair is all wacky, not all ‘made up’ posey type of shots. Happy 100! Your work is stunning!!!

I love the thoughtful ones most, where shes looking up and pondering the meaning of it all or when you see an infant looking so thoughtful you wonder what hes thinking and would love to put in a quote there.
