One of my favorite things to do when the weather is nice is taking evening walks with my kids. In summer especially, its just a magical time to be out. The light is golden as the sun gets lower and lower, the kids are relaxed and happy after a long day in day camp (ha who am I kidding? Most of the time they’re cranky at this time of day. But being outside calms them down and puts them in good moods). And as summer’s end draws closer and closer (sob) I find myself trying to cram in as much outdoor time as possible into every day. So tonight I took my camera with me to try and capture the feeling of these walks… I used my lensbaby muse, which is a specialty lens that allows you to only focus on very small part of the picture while blurring out the rest. With the muse, you focus by either squeezing the accordion shaped lens towards you or pushing it away. Since it doesn’t lock in place, no two pictures you take, even seconds apart, are the same. It’s incredibly hard to get a good foucs, especially with active children, but I just love the dreamy effect it gives my photos and I feel like it really adds an element of emotion to them.
I’d love to hear what you think, so if you’re here drop a line and say hi!
